This work is based on a psychological phenomenon called derealization which involves a persistent or recurring sense of detachment or unreality in one's surroundings. It is often described as feeling disconnected from the external world as if everything appears dreamlike, foggy, or artificial. Individuals experiencing derealization may perceive their environment as distorted, unfamiliar, or lacking emotional significance.
